The Differences Between Fully Ground Drill Bits And Roll Forged Drill Bits
1. Different production techniques
The production process of fully ground drill bits is mainly realized through grinding process. The drill bits produced have the characteristics of high precision, good straightness and strong wear resistance. Roll forged drill bits are produced through a pressing process and have relatively low surface hardness but good strength and toughness. Therefore, there is a big difference between the two in terms of production technology.
2. Different use effects
Due to different manufacturing processes, there is a big difference in the effects of fully ground drill bits and roll forged drill bits during use. Fully ground drill bits have high hardness and wear resistance, are suitable for processing high-hardness materials or deep hole processing and other high-precision processes, and have a long service life. Roll forged drill bits are suitable for processing some ordinary materials. Because their surface hardness is relatively low, they need to be well lubricated and cooled with the workpiece during use to prevent surface hot cracking, delamination and other problems. Their service life is relatively short.
3. Different processing costs
Due to different manufacturing processes and usage effects, there is a big difference in processing costs between fully ground drill bits and roll forged drill bits. The production process of fully ground drill bits is complicated and the production process requirements are high. Therefore, the processing cost is higher than that of rolled drill bits. Rolled drill bits use a pressing process, which has relatively high production efficiency and relatively low cost.
To sum up, although fully ground drill bits and roll forged drill bits are both common drill bit types, there are big differences in their production technology, use effects and processing costs. According to different processing requirements and actual needs, choosing the appropriate drill type can achieve better results and cost control in production and processing.
